When Massimo asked me to be a godfather of Caap Afrika I said spontaneosly OUI! Why? Even to hesitate a bit whould have meant that I had forgotten what I have seen in Niger and surrounding countries. It would mean that my heart would not see anymore my fellow human beings. I think often the living conditions of those who live – or rather try to survive – over there. What about if I was born there instead of Finland? What would have my life been like? We extremely privileged forget that none of us have chosen our birthplace! Our duty is to help them to help themselves. In dignity. We all deserve hope in our lives because then we can overcome any obstacles. The better world starts when we heed the advice of Jesus: « What you want to be done to yourself do it to your neighbour ».
